The Bible Study group began its new session last month by continuing with its journey through the wonderful Gospel of St. John. I have long held the view that if a church is not meeting in the week to read the scriptures and to pray, there is something badly lacking. What sort of a church is it where Christians don’t want to read God’s Word or to pray to him? Isn’t that what the church is really about?
Many people, I know, are put off by the thought of ‘Bible Study’. ‘It’s not for me’, they say. Some people have been put off because the minister drones on, or a few tend to dominate the proceedings.
This is not how we do it at St Paul’s. We have a varied group where everyone is comfortable with each other, and where you can say as much or as little as you want. There’s no exam, and there’s no pressure to be anything other than what you are.
So why not come and join us? Just be yourself and feast on God’s Word. The amazing thing about the Bible, I have found, is that the more you read it, the more you want to read it.
We meet on Mondays at 7.30pm in the Centenary Rooms.
