Cubs meet on a Wednesday evening during term time, from 5:45 to 7:15. We enjoy a large range of activities, both indoors and outdoors, and try to go on 2 weekend camps as well as a longer summer camp each year. If you would like more information about us then click here to email the Section Leader.
Recent Events:
Our 5-day summer camp this year was to Hesley Wood, Sheffield, where we enjoyed activities such as canoeing, climbing & abseiling, archery and the agility course. We also enjoyed cooking our own lunch on fires, some mini-pioneering and joining in the communal campfire. Our ‘trip out’ was to Hillsborough for a tour round the stadium, followed by a trip to the training ground for our very own training session. A fantastic camp was had by all, well done everyone!
Since coming back in September we have been working hard at our Fitness Challenge badge, including some circuit training and some work on our ‘healthy eating’! We also held our inaugural Mini-Olympics, won by Yellow Six. Well done guys!
We have also just returned from a weekend at Raven Gill campsite at Commondale in the North York Moors, where we spent a weekend making bird-boxes for our DIY badge, as well as hiking on the Moors. Everyone had a great time – despite the weather!
Future Events:
The rest of this term will be very busy, as the older Cubs complete their Global Challenge, while the younger Cubs work hard at their Road Safety badge. We also plan to enter the Mowgli Cup this year, the District Competition that tests the Cub’s basic Scouting skills, and we will round off for Christmas by seeing who can win the Bowling trophy this year!
