What do Rainbows do?
Rainbows have fun! They take part in games and activities as part of their programme called the Rainbow Jigsaw. Everything a Rainbow does helps her to develop and think for herself, in a safe girl-only environment.
St Paul's Rainbows meet on Thursday evenings during term time, between 5.45 and 6.45pm. This, the youngest section of Girlguiding, is open to all girls between 5 and 7 years. If you would like more information or wish to add a name to our waiting list then please click here to email the Rainbow Guider.
Further information can be found at Girlguiding UK on their website www.girlguiding.org.uk
News:
The Rainbows have had a really busy time this Autumn. We've watched five of our number jump over the rainbow into Brownies and welcomed five new Rainbows to St Paul's.
Our big news is the arrival of our new flag which had its first outing at the parade service. Pollyanna, our ladybird, is now enjoying her retirement and can still be seen making her way up the wall in the church. Connie Darnell, our eldest Rainbow at present, had the honour of being the first Rainbow to carry our flag out of church.
We had a lovely evening making some very special cards when we welcomed " Wixie" (Carmen Sawers) from the Baptist Guides. Cupcakes and a friendly witch and her pet frog were the themes for the night.
Tiger lily (Lisa Daggett) spoiled us with a pamper evening as we made avocado or honey and oatmeal face masks and transformed our nails with polish and gems.
The Rainbows learnt a little about Diwali and made their own lamps. They sampled various Indian foods. We also planted some bulbs ready for spring.
We are very excited to be taking part in a Guiding visit to Harrogate Pantomime. Girl Guiding is taking over the theatre for one performance and all sections will be represented (oh yes they will!). We have a visit planned for a tour behind the scenes just two days before the performance, with an opportunity to stand on the stage and see the costumes at close quarters.
Our year will come to a close with our Christmas party. On this occasion we are visiting Art from the Heart, where the Rainbows will make wooden tree decorations before going downstairs to the Indulge cafe for tea.
