Celebrating 150 Years of God’s Faithfulness (1876–2026)
Looking back with gratitude, upward in worship, and forward in hope.
For 150 years, St Paul’s has been part of God’s unfolding work in Harrogate. From our humble beginnings in 1876, through seasons of remarkable growth and moments of real challenge, one truth has remained constant: God gives the increase. Every prayer, every act of service, every step of faith has been woven into His ongoing story of grace.
A Testimony to Faith and Perseverance
This anniversary is far more than a date on the calendar; it is a testimony.
A testimony to the faith, vision, and sacrifice of ordinary people used by an extraordinary God.
Generations before us planted and watered with courage, generosity, and perseverance.
They built, prayed, served, and shaped a community that continues to shine the light of Christ today. St Paul’s stands as it does because countless men and women followed God’s call with faithfulness and conviction.
As we honour their legacy, we remember the truth that:
“We stand tall because we stand on the shoulders of giants.”
Their stewardship now becomes our invitation:
- to plant where the soil is ready,
- to water where life is stirring,
- and to trust the Holy Spirit to bring fruit in His time.

150 Years of Grace
Our story is not simply one of human effort — it is the story of God’s grace at work.
“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.”
Psalm 107:1
That enduring love has carried us through times of expansion and times of testing. And it is that same love that now calls us forward into the future God is preparing.
Looking Back, Looking Up, Looking Forward
As we celebrate 150 years of ministry, worship, and community, our posture is simple:
- Back with gratitude for those who built, served, and prayed.
- Upward in worship to the God whose faithfulness has never failed.
- Forward in hope as we commit ourselves afresh to Christ’s mission.
Our prayer is that this anniversary year renews our vision, deepens our faith, and inspires the next generation to carry the light further still.
