Praying together keeps us rooted in Christ and helps us carry one another’s burdens as a church family. Everyone is warmly invited – whatever your age or experience with prayer.

When & where

We meet on the fourth Tuesday of the month, 7:00pm in the Centenary Room.

The meeting is relaxed and typically lasts around 45 minutes.

What happens

We pray for the life of St Paul’s, for our town and nation, for other churches and mission partners, and for the personal needs of people in our congregation and community. The format is informal: there’s time for silent prayer, small-group prayer and a time when we pray together as a whole church.

If you’re nervous about praying out loud That’s perfectly okay. Many of us feel the same. You don’t have to pray aloud. Just listening to others pray is a powerful way to learn, to grow in confidence, and to join in with God’s work. If you would like to pray but feel unsure, short simple prayers are more than enough — a sentence or two is fine.

Want to bring a request?

If you have a prayer need you’d like us to carry, please tell one of the Elders before or after the meeting, or submit it via our Contact page. Requests are treated with care and confidentiality.

A little help for praying aloud

If you’d like a quick structure to follow, try:

  • 1) Praise God for who he is
  • 2) Confess anything on your heart
  • 3) Thank him for what he’s done
  • 4) Ask for the specific need.
Short, honest and from the heart is all that’s needed.

Joining the prayer meeting is a simple, practical way to serve others and draw closer to God. Whether you’re shy or confident, come along, we’d love to have you.
