Sundays at St Paul’s

You are welcome

Whether you live locally in Harrogate or are just visiting, whether you’re a lifelong Christian or new to church, whether you come by yourself or with family and friends, you’ll be warmly welcomed at St Paul’s.

If you’re not used to services, don’t worry: we love having visitors and no one is ever put on the spot. Words and songs are projected on-screen so you can join in if you’d like.

What to expect on Sunday

Our Sunday service is the high point of our week, a time when our whole church family comes together to worship God, hear from the Bible and encourage one another.

In each service we sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs; pray to God to praise and thank him, confess our sins to him, and present our needs and requests to him; read passages from the Bible, usually as part of a series over several weeks; and listen to a Bible passage being preached and taught for our own lives today.

  • Each service lasts about 60 minutes.
  • We sometimes celebrate the baptism of new Christians or of children.
  • We celebrate communion or the Lord’s Supper four times a year as Christians by sharing bread and wine together.
  • Refreshments are served after the service, so there’s an opportunity to meet people.

Preaching

Our teaching is expositional, and sermons are rooted in a passage of Scripture. We typically work through one book of the Bible at a time. We want our teaching to be faithful to the Bible, centred on the good news of Jesus, and relevant to everyday life. Sermons typically last around 20 minutes.

Children & young people

Sunday includes groups for children where they learn from the Bible in age-appropriate ways. Families are very welcome to use these groups or to stay together in the main service, whatever works best for you.
